Yaoundé for the diaspora: practical tips

Long stays, paperwork, Mobile Money: our practical tips.

Year-end holidays, weddings, funerals or simply a holiday: every year, many Cameroonians from Europe and North America come home to Yaoundé. Here are our tips for a stress-free stay.

Book early for busy periods

December, January and the summer are in high demand. Book as soon as your dates are set: our early booking offer gives you a discount and flexible cancellation.

Booking for a relative

You can book and pay from abroad for a parent or friend. Simply add their name and phone number to the request and we will contact them when they arrive.

Paying in euros or dollars

The CFA franc (FCFA) has a fixed exchange rate with the euro: €1 = 655.957 FCFA. Prices on the website can be shown in euros or dollars; invoices are issued in FCFA. Depending on the case, you can pay by card, bank transfer or on arrival.

Mobile Money and SIM cards

Orange Money and MTN Mobile Money are everywhere in Cameroon. To open an account you need a local SIM card registered with an ID document. Remember to bring your passport or national ID card.

Long stays and families

The Dreams Suite, with its separate lounge, sleeps up to three. From three nights, ask us for our long-stay rate, and from five nights the airport shuttle is included with the Diaspora offer.

Welcome home.
